Park City Center in Lancaster hopes to build two free-standing restaurants as well as a new mall entrance at the former Bon-Ton, according to Lancaster Online.
This summer the mall announced plans to demolish the former department store but didn’t release details on what would replace it.
Sketches submitted by owner Brookfield Properties to the city indicate one of the restaurants would be located where The Bon-Ton stands and the other in the mall’s parking lot, the news site reported. It has not shared any details about the restaurants other than sizes – 11,250 square feet and 9,750 square feet.
Part of Brookfield’s plan also calls for a large courtyard to be built in the mall entrance that would be filled with two tenants facing a new parking area, according to Lancaster Online. The number of parking spaces in that area would climb from 285 to 316.
Details about those tenants also were not released.
Lancaster Online reports Brookfield hopes to complete the mall entrance project in time for the 2020 holiday shopping season. In order to make those deadlines, it has made a request with the Lancaster City Planning Commission to fast-forward the redevelopment’s approval process.
It also would like to start demolition before the final approval process.
Lancaster Online said typically buildings in Lancaster city cannot be demolished until after plans are approved for the next use of the site. Brookfield’s proposed plans will be reviewed by the planning commission 6 p.m., Nov. 6 in the City Hall annex.
The mall is also converting the former Sears store into Round1, an entertainment venue expected to open in fall 2020. Round1 is an entertainment facility that offerings bowling, arcade games, billiards, karaoke, ping pong, darts, and a kids zone play area.
Park City was built in 1970 and has undergone several renovations through the years.

While the game features multiple boards, over a dozen unique civilizations (each of which has their own unique abilities) and several unique buildings that can be obtained by reaching certain goals, Tapestry’s turns are actually quite simple – players either advance their token along one of four tracks by paying a resource cost, or take an income turn that generates additional resources. The main issue with Tapestry isn’t the actual mechanics of the game, which are uniquely clever, but rather the over-simplified rulebook.
